Sisters, Scrying, and Silver Flames

Day 4

Chapters 25-32

Nesta’s emotional walls are cracking, her power is rising, and the stakes, both personal and cosmic, are climbing fast. From clipped wings to whispered multiverse theories, every scene pulses with meaning. Let’s break it down.

Loyalty, Resentment, and Ramiel Dreams

Nesta’s devotion to Elain remains unwavering, and I can’t understand why. She’d risk everything for her. But when it comes to Feyre? The emotional distance is stark. Nesta recalls being willing to sell her body to keep Elain fed but mentions nothing of Feyre. In one of the previous books, that are from Feyre’s perspective, Feyre once said their mother barely paid her any attention, while Nesta remembers being the favored one, tasked with preserving the family’s fortune while Feyre got to chase freedom.

At Windhaven, Nesta visits Emerie, who dreams of traveling but has never left her village. Nesta invites her to train with her, Gwyn, and Cassian at the House of Wind. Emerie declines. For now. But the foreshadowing is strong. Theory time: Nesta will find a way to heal Emerie’s clipped wings.

Meanwhile, Cassian meets with Eris to discuss the Dread Trove. Eris reveals Beron doesn’t know about Briallyn’s search for the magical objects. Which raises a bigger question: why is Briallyn keeping secrets from her supposed ally?

Wine, Wit, and Knees

Cassian broods in the dining room with a glass of wine, until Nesta enters and the House snatches it from his hand. No wine allowed when Nesta’s around. Hilarious.

But beneath the laughter, Cassian feels outmatched by Eris’s wit and haunted by Nesta’s and everyone else’s “stupid brute” opinion of him. Nesta sees the despair in his eyes and decides to comfort him—in a very specific way. On her knees. Just as they were about to turn up the heat a couple thousand degrees, Azriel walks in. His timing? Impeccably awful.

Spices, Sisterhood, and Emerie Arrives

Still no new priestesses in training. Nesta sends Emerie a gift of spices and tea with Cassian. It’s a gift mainly because Nesta likes Gywn, but also a way to coerce her into coming to training. Cassian realizes that Gwyn and Emerie know Nesta not as “Cursebreakers Sister,” but simply as Nesta. That distinction matters.

The next morning, Emerie shows up to train.

Clipped Wings and Romance Novels

Emerie’s father clipped her wings himself. He was sloppy and h is butchery is causing her lingering pain, both physically and emotionally. Watching Emerie, Nesta, and Gwyn bond over dirty romance novels is pure joy. Their friendship is blooming, and it’s beautiful.

Rhys arrives and mentally warns Nesta to treat Gwyn with respect. Cassian is furious and honestly, same. Rhys also makes a comment that the House smells like sex and Azriel was a useless chaperone. I laughed out loud.

Scrying, Secrets, and Silver Flames

Nesta’s still trying to conquer those 10,000 steps down to the city. she’s at 3,000. The House encourages her to scry for the Trove, but her trauma holds her back.

Cassian is at the Night Court’s family dinner and Amren give Nesta a deadline: one week to locate the Trove, or Elain will be brought in. Pressure’s on.

Merrill explodes! She’s discovered Nesta swapped out her books. Theory time: Merrill is an agent of Briallyn and Koschei. She’s researching the multiverse, and one of the Trove items might open doors between worlds. Merrill hears whispers on the wind, just like the way Koschei speaks to Briallyn.

Nesta unleashes a flicker of her power and sends Merrill packing.

We also learn Gwyn’s heritage: quarter nymph, descended from both Autumn and Spring Courts. Her mother was shunned, raised in the temple, and Gwyn and her twin are the result of their mother being chosen on Calanmai. Her story adds depth and mystery.

Three more priestesses show up to train.

Nesta attempts to scry again, but fear overwhelms her. That night, she has a nightmare and her power explodes: silver, cold flames. Rhys dampens the blast and enters her dream. He sees everything that happened in the Cauldron. The truth is confirmed: Nesta’s power is death.

Wings and Warnings

The baby has wings! But my joy at this news turns to dread. Feyre was in her Illyrian form when she conceived, and Illyrian women have a different anatomy that allow them to carry and birth babies with wings. She is banned from shifting during pregnancy. Rhys fears the birth could kill her.

Tamlin must be told, but they are all worried that the news will push him over the edge. Lucien is assigned to Spring Court but trust in him is fading. Once a favorite character of mine, now a question mark.

Soup, Scrying, and Scars

The House’s food scenes are mouthwatering—roast chicken and rice soup? Yes, please.

Cassian tells Nesta that anatomy puts her and the baby at serious risk. Feyre doesn’t know.

Nesta wants to attempt to scry again. At the River House, she remembers the words that fractured her friendship: “You have become a pathetic waste of life.” My bet? Amren said it. She also promises Rhys that she won’t say anything to Feyre.

Nesta successfully scries and locates the mask but gets stuck again. Cassian’s heat and kiss pulls her out. Another location on the map is revealed.

The Bog of Oorid awaits.

Mist and Mystery

The bog is most certainly not a vacation spot. It is surrounded by mist. Nesta senses a presence and Azriel disappears.
