The Night Triumphant, and The Stars Eternal
Day 5
Chapters 35-44
Adriata Ablaze
Hybern’s surprise attack on the Summer Court hits like a tidal wave. Varian’s warning to Amren wasn’t a plea for help but Rhysand answers anyway, unleashing the Illyrian legions. Feyre and Mor winnow straight into chaos, becoming unexpected saviors to the lesser fae abandoned in the castle’s depths.
Feyre and Mor fight like twin storms, clearing the palace and spilling into Adriata’s streets. Through Rhys’s eyes, Feyre watches him face Hybern, his power dimmed, but his resolve unshaken. And then the twist: it wasn’t the King at all, just an illusion. A cruel preview of the war to come.
Consequences and Carvings
The aftermath is heavy. Feyre and Rhys must face the High Lord of Summer, and the cost of her Spring Court sabotage becomes painfully clear; she left the door wide open for Hybern.
With the High Lords’ meeting looming, Feyre advises Rhys that it’s time to shed the Night Court’s mask. It will be easier to convince the others to ally with them. But first, a visit to the Prison. She seeks to renegotiate with the Bone Carver, who refuses, and let’s slip something for his own amusement: the child Feyre sees isn’t random. It’s their son.
Back at the townhouse, Elain is baking bread. A quiet moment of healing. A whisper of hope.
The Dawn Court Beckons
The meeting is set for the Dawn Court (yay, new map location!). Feyre dubs new painting of her and Rhysand and the way they are dressed The Night Triumphant and The Stars Eternal.
Nesta, in a last-minute decision, chooses to come. She won’t be remembered as a coward. Rhys offers her Feyre’s old role as emissary to the human world, a gesture that softens even Nesta’s sharp edges and welcomes her formally to the Night Court.
Cue the betting pool: which court will throw the first punch?
I asked: If you were attending the meeting of the High Lords, which court would you have bet on to start the first fight?
Here’s how the votes shook out:
• Autumn Court: 60% (I voted for this)
• Spring Court: 40%
• Night Court: 0%
• Day Court: 0%
• Dawn Court: 0%
• Summer Court: 0%
• Winter Court: 0%
Autumn Court took the lead; no surprise there, given Eris’s reputation for provocation and Beron’s legacy of cruelty. Spring Court followed close behind, with Tamlin’s volatility still fresh in everyone’s minds. Not a single vote for the Night Court, which says a lot about how readers view Rhys’s restraint… or his ability to strike only when it counts.
The Dawn Court stuns with its eternal hues of pink, gold, blue, and violet. Even the Night Court is awed and demands some changes to their home.
Tamlin Enters the Chat
The meeting begins with tension but civil... until Tamlin arrives. And just like that, the room ignites.
Kallias and Viviane accuse Rhys of murdering their younglings. Amarantha’s deception still poisoning trust. Tamlin claims to stand against Hybern, but twists the blade by accusing Rhys and Feyre of being Hybern’s agents.
Rhys, strips Tamlin of speech with a flick of power. A reminder: the Night Court does not play small.
Final Thoughts
The Night Court may be triumphant, but the cracks are showing, and every alliance feels like it’s balanced on a blade.
Now it’s your turn:
• Which moment hit hardest today, Feyre’s guilt, Nesta’s decision, or Tamlin’s entrance?
• Did the Autumn Court deserve its 60% vote for “most likely to throw the first punch,” or did Tamlin prove Spring should’ve taken the crown?
• And what do you think the Bone Carver’s vision means for Feyre and Rhys’s future?
💬 Drop your thoughts, theories, and dramatic reactions in the comments. Whether you’re here to scream, sob, or psychoanalyze, this space is yours. Let’s make it messy, magical, and unforgettable.
Don’t forget the poll: If you were sitting at the High Lords’ meeting, which court would you bet on to start the fight first—and why?
And how did you feel about Rhys’s silence spell on Tamlin: satisfying or too far?
