Welcome back to the glittering, blood-soaked world of the elite undead.

In this CAWPILE review, we’re sinking our fangs into Second Rite, the second installment of Geneva Lee’s Filthy Rich Vampires series. If book one left you breathless with its seductive tension and high-stakes drama, book two doesn’t just raise the bar—it shatters it with a crystal goblet and pours in more secrets, heartbreak, and supernatural heat.

From Thea’s emotional unraveling to Julian’s brooding torment, Second Rite deepens the romance and the danger, all while expanding the darkly opulent vampire society we’ve come to crave.

Let’s break it down CAWPILE-style and see how this sequel measures up in Characters, Atmosphere, Writing, Plot, Intrigue, Logic, and Enjoyment. Spoiler alert: things are about to get deliciously complicated.

Characters: 7

The characters remain pretty much the same when compared to the first book. Their emotional range seem to be broader this time around. Thea and Julian’s dynamic continues to burn, and the supporting cast add just enough spark to keep the reader invested in the story.

Atmosphere/World Building: 6

Opulent ballrooms, dangerous secrets, and sensual tension create a lush backdrop. Some scenes could have worked a little harder set the mood, but the setting still has its own appealing charm.

Writing: 8

I’m not really sure where to lay this little nugget, but there are a few glaringly obvious grammatical errors in the printed copy of the book, which personally tap dances on my last nerve.

Geneva Lee’s writing is sleek and immersive. The dialogue is strong, but sometimes feels a bit cliched, but the overall writing is solid and enjoyable.

Plot: 6

The story goes along familiar paranormal paths, but with enough twists and reveals to keep the blood pumping. It’s a bridge book, no doubt, but the pacing never drags for long.

Intrigue: 8

This book hooks you. Power plays, forbidden love, and unraveling secrets keep the pages turning. T

Logic: 6

Some motivations feel a little murky, especially from the side characters, but the rules of the world hold together quite well.

Enjoyment: 8

It’s addictive, indulgent fun. The romance burns, the danger simmers, and you’ll likely finish wishing the next book was already in your hands.

Final Thoughts

CAWPILE TOTAL: 48/70

Final Rating: 6.8

Second Rite is a guilty pleasure that doesn’t ask for forgiveness. An enjoyable palette cleaner if you are coming off a particularly deep book. If you’re into brooding billionaires with bite and heroines finding their fire, this installment delivers enough to keep you thirsting for more.

And there you have it—Second Rite delivers a bite that’s deeper, darker, and far more delicious than expected. Whether you came for the bloodlust or the brooding billionaire, this sequel stakes its claim with style.

Until next time, keep your TBR stacked, and your neck protected—these filthy rich vamps don’t just steal hearts… they drain them too.
