Recap and Discussion
The Hybern royals roofied Feyre’s and Lucien’s food with Faebane, effectively cutting them off from their power. As a result, Feyre’s first option of winnowing back to the Night Court was rendered useless, and her mental connection to Rhys has been severed. So, plan B. She and Lucien made their way to the lands of Autumn, on foot. This doesn’t bode well. Lucien doesn’t have a very loving relationship with his family, his brothers especially.
They make it five days before they are found by Lucien’s brothers, most notably Eris, the High Lord of Autumn’s Heir, and Mor’s one time fiancé. Looks like it’s time to add one more name to Feyre’s kill list. Feyre has become quite skilled in hand-to-hand combat under Cassian’s tutelage, not to mention that as she stepped over the border into the lands of autumn, her power of fire sparked to life. Using this power, she trapped the brothers in the cave, and she and Lucien manage to escape into the territory of the Winter Court. Seeing as how Lucien’s cloak, their food and weapons just went up in flames, their chances of survival without their powers are slim.
Through some small miracle, they survive only to be caught in the middle of a massive body of frozen water by none other than the Autumn Court brothers. Eris attempts to use his fire power to melt the ice. Using the power of the Winter court, which like her power of flame in the Autumn territory surged, to refreeze the ice that Eris melted. Feyre and Lucien was not quick enough. Feyre took an arrow to the arm and was being dragged back to shore by her hair. Just when Feyre was beginning to panic, my two favorite Illyrian warriors, Cassian and Azriel arrive to beat the breaks off the Autumn brothers! Feyre chooses now to announce that she is High Lady of the Night Court, we finally get Lucien’s last name: Vanserra, and the four of them take to the sky to return to Velaris!
Amren will ALWAYS be a favorite character of mine. She’s so damn snarkey!
“I see you brought home a new pet”, she said, nose crinkling with distaste.
Finally!!! The moment I’ve been waiting for! Feyre has been reunited with her mate. 😁 Rhysand kicked everyone out of the townhouse, and you already know what it is. No recap needed. They even exchanged rings. Remember what Feyre had to go through to get hers? 🤣
This is also the first time Feyre and Rhysand appeared together not only mated, but married where everyone in company knew. And Lucien tried to be a bitch, and gave Feyre the up and down. Rhysand true to his character put him in his place expeditiously.
“because the next time you look at my mate with disdain and disgust, I won’t bother to explain it again, and I will rip out your fucking throat.”
If I was there, I would have added a “Just saying” comment, cause I’m petty like that.
Now it’s time to see the sisters Archeron.
Soooo…. Umm. Yeah. Not what I was expecting at all. I was expecting for Nesta to be relieved to see Feyre alive and well. Nope. Her temperament is still the same. Elaine has changed the most. Feyre describes her as hollow. A shell of who she was before the Cauldron made her. Feyre decided now isn’t the time for her to see Lucien. In the meantime, the gang are trying to come up with a plan gather allies in the coming war, and a way to keep Hybern from using the cauldron to bring down the wall. One option would be to repair the holes that are already there. Feyre deduces that since it took all the High Lords to create the wall, maybe she can patch up the holes since she has bits of all of their magic. It was also suggested that since the Cauldron itself Made Nesta and Elaine, they too may have the power to repair the wall. They decided on sending out an invite to all the high lords to meet to see who respond. Feyre, in the meantime will ask her sisters, yet again for their help.
My Answers
I am sticking to my first thought that this is yet another title that Feyre has to grow into and accept. Yes, she has been Feyre, Curse Breaker for little while now, but it made her sick to think about what she had done Under the Mountain. The fact that it is spelled as one word and not two, still have me thinking that it is something the Book would say to her.
I think that it is his DRIVING reason, but not his only reason. I feel as though Lucien holds Feyre in very high regard, before and after the events of A Court of Thorns and Roses, even if he is a little confused about why she left Tamlin. And I think she is still a very good friend in his eyes.
I was SO DANG HAPPY! I honestly thought Rhysand would be with them, but I think I screeched at their arrival and no F’s were given, seeing as how I was reading that particular chapter on my lunch break…with a room full of co-workers.
The contrast between her reunion with the people that Feyre holds most dear at the Night Court when compared to the Spring Court was palpable. I was mostly excited for Feyre to see Rhys again, but I was way more interested in her sisters. Which, by the way surprised me! I figured Nesta would be her same surly self, but Elaine! I was expecting a more vibrant version of herself. I am very interested in seeing how their relationship will unfold in the coming chapters.
The Wall has fallen, removing a significant barrier to Hybern's campaign of war and the enslavement of the mortal realm. Yet, hope persists. The Night Court has secured a fragile alliance with several other High Lords. The question remains: Can they halt Hybern's advance?
